Mercredi 16.05.07 Call me crazy
Adi has been wrecking my head lately. Supposedly Nic and I were the only assistants to get the CAF here and Adi thinks she deserves a slice of rent respite. Rightly so, but all that was dealt with in October – we’re due to finish up in a month or so! I’ve had numerous calls from her asking why we got it. I don’t have to explain someone else’s choice so I end-up ignoring her calls but I almost pass on a call from Lionel. I’m a sucker for answering private-number calls so even though it could be Annoying Adi I take a leap of fate.
But as they say no news is good news. Nic gets a call from her mother to say that she has received a letter from Europcar. There’s a letter citing €350 and another for two payments of €7. Nic’s Mum doesn’t read French so we can only wait and see what fun will follow in the post. But that’s not the end to all this French madness. Nic has booked her flights home with ebookers and they’ve asked her to confirm her credit card details. However, she booked it with her Dad’s credit card… Irish fathers, credit card details and technology don’t go together chez-elle. Nicola would like to spend longer in Martinique – be careful what you wish for!
Anyway she has better things to look forward to for the instant as she’s off to a swanky cocktail party with Dorian on Friday. So after all the calls and chats this morning we set out to find a dress at Point du Bout. The only thing we end up purchasing is lunch.
Nic later finds a dress at Galleria and I find a friend at Anse Mitan. I’ve been in contact with a French lady via email and texts for the past month or so. She used to frequent the Terminal CafĂ© and when she heard that there were Irish people in the area she was only delighted to get in contact. Today I meet her at the beach. She’s older than I thought and she’s a bit quiet though she seems nice and is straightforward. She has been to Ireland many times and she even speaks Gaeilge! She wants to visit Montserrat to see the black, carrot-haired Irish and says she’ll soon embark on a quest to get there. We have a pleasant chat on the beach. She leaves early to avoid the traffic surge from Trois-Ilets and I head home for tea, T.V and T.L.C J
